How to start out working from home

Not sure how to start working from home?  Worried about the risk?  Not ready to give up your day job?

Don't be put off by these concerns.  They are natural.  It is a big move which takes planning to get right.

Here are some simple and safe steps which have worked for others, safe steps you can take to make the transition easy.
  • Start part time.  This is a natural step.  Find something you can do in the evenings or on weekends.  Something which does not rely on a full time commitment and something which does not require you to be home to respond or engage.
  • Start with a low engagement strategy.  There are business opportunities which does not require you to engage with customers.  These are the best for part time activity.
  • Work with a friend.  Just like job share, share the work from home experience.
  • Try a short term project.  Some work from home opportunities involve a fixed term contract.  This could involve piece work or a project where you work for a set number of hours and then the project ends.  While these opportunities take longer to find, they can be valuable in helping you experience variety.
Each of these opportunities has an exit and that is what you want if you are not sure that working from home is right for you.

Sometimes, trying a few part time or fixed term working from home opportunities are ideal for testing whether this approach is right for you.  Take your time, learn from each experience.  The more opportunities you try the better informed your ultimate decision will be about making the move to work from home full time.

An Early Start Gives You More Freedom in Working From Home

Get started early, get your work done and have some time to yourself in your day.  That is how I like to schedule my own time working from home.

My day usually starts in my home office at 5AM, eating breakfast while taking care of emails which have come in overnight.  Then I check my sites, collate stats and am ready to start the day proper by 5:30AM.

I usually work solid until around 10AM.  Then I have MY TIME until around 3PM.

I use MY TIME to walk, read, go to a movie, catch up with friends or garden.  While I call it MY TIME, it is usually business time too because I get ideas, nut through problems and plan.

I then hit the office again at 3PM and work through until 5PM.  This last two hours is for emails which have come in during the day, getting some prep work done for tomorrow and making a couple of moves on my online business strategies.

Every situation is different, I know.  This schedule works for me.  I start and end the day refreshed, financially better off and looking forward to tomorrow.

More Work and Less Talk Helps You Profit from Working From Home

For some, working from home is their first time opening and operating a business. It is easy to get caught up in the rush of being in this situation and losing focus on the need to be serious about the business.

It takes discipline to be focused on doing business rather than talking about it. Our natural inclination as humans is to spin our own situation. This could see you believing your own spin.
Here are some tips for pursuing action over words and therefore making the most possible from running a business from home:

Focus on your goals. Everything you do every day must move you toward your goals. If a task does not do this then it is likely to busy work and therefore a waste of your precious time.

Talk less. Avoid talking about what you are going to do when mixing with friends and family. Keep your own counsel. Prefer instead to look forward to the day when you can talk about what you have done, what you have achieved by working from home.

Celebrate success. Start each day with a TO DO list. This list should only include items which progress you to your goal. Mark things off as you go. Celebrate getting to the end of a day or the end of a shift in your home office when everything on your list is done.

Be cautious in answering questions. If people ask how your new business is going, be careful to not talk too much. Your business will be better served if you focus your energy on what you do rather than what you say.

Tell the truth. It is natural to want to talk up your new business. Try and avoid this as you could find yourself believing what you say and this could give you a false view of the world. It is vitally important that your perspective of your home based business is honest as this will help focus your mind on each decision you make.

Remember why you made the move to work from home, what you want from the experience, the personal, professional and financial outcome that you want. These are the key motivators for how you spend your work day and how you combat the instinct to talk up what you are doing.

Imagine how you will feel when out of the blue you can tell family and friends of the wonderful success you have made of your home based business. The thrill when they share in what will be genuine news to them - if you have been careful to not speak too much about what you are doing along the way.

Actions do speak louder than words. Focus more on building a strong and healthy home based business and less on telling people what you are doing.

How Variety Can Help You Enjoy Your Working From Home Experience

Too often people focus on one job, one area of interest, one function when they decide to work from home. While this can work in some situations, it can be detrimental to productivity.

It is well known that variety can boost productivity and enjoyment.

* Variety stops you becoming bored with one task.
* Variety broadens your experience and therefore your knowledge.
* Variety boosts your enjoyment of the work day and this can boost productivity.
* Variety helps you keep up your energy level and this will make you more efficient.
* Variety means you are relying on more than one product, one service, one strategy for making your income.

It is this last point which is vitally important in considering a commitment to variety when you decide to work from home.

Say you have decided to promote products online from a home office situation. If you do this for products across a range of categories, you a better placed for success since one area of interest may be in a slump while another may be strong.

Variety is all about spreading risk and casting a wide net for customers and revenue. This is the same basis on which general stores were founded hundreds of years ago. A broad base from which you derive income insulates your home based business from the vagaries which can hurt some niche areas.

So, how do you create variety in your work day and in your home based business?
  1. Mix what you do. Do not just sell products, offer services.
  2. Vary your day. Spend time each day on selling, learning, organising and marketing. Segment your day across these and other business areas – but be sure to focus your attention on each task ensuring that it is valuable work and not busy work.
  3. Plan. Always have several new business ideas in the planning stage so that you are prepared for your next moves if you find that you need to make them.
  4. Multiple marketing strategies. Do not just engage in one marketing strategy for each product or service, engage in multiple, chasing different customers.
The greater the variety of sources of income you pursue in working from your home the stronger the business will be, the more insulated it will be from soft patches and the more enjoyment you will have from the overall experience.

Productivity is vitally important to any home business since the success of the business comes down to you. Productivity will be greater if you enjoy the work more. You will enjoy the work more if you structure variety into your work day.

It may take some time to settle into the mix of variety which works for you. Give this time to evolve and closely monitor your productivity and how the variety makes you feel., You will soon realize when you have the mix right.

Work From Home by Doing Jobs You Love

Work from home and you can toss in your current job and replace it with your very own business, a business which suits your personal needs and the needs of your family.

By working from home you:

  • Enjoy freedom with your work schedule.
  • Develop business and personal skills which will help you through life.
  • Take control of your financial future.
  • Better provide for your family.
  • Have time for the things you love doing - you set your own schedule.
  • Get a tax deduction for some costs which you already have today.

While it takes discipline and commitment, the rewards attainable by working from home soon motivate you to achieve more. That has been my personal experience.

I had an office job, a good job. But I wanted freedom from the nine to five day. I also wanted to have more money for travel as well as investing in property and shares. I felt constrained.

After looking around at the options including opening a business, buying a share in an existing business or working from home, I soon realized that working from home was right for me.

Here are the tips which worked for me:

  • Setup an office away from the family which is your workplace.
  • In the early days, set aside structured time to learn the ropes.
  • Get out of the office for breaks to avoid becoming stir crazy.
  • Network online with others in your field of pursuit.
  • Track what you earn by the hour worked.
  • Set yourself financial goals, it may be a trip overseas, a new home, college paid for or a share portfolio. A goal is important as this is your motivator.
  • Set yourself personal goals. Remember and focus on why you wanted out of the nine to five rat race.

Working from home is liberating, challenging, exhilarating and rewarding. That is my experience. It is also my life. Time for family, time for friends and money for my future. The freedom is everything I hoped for. This is thanks to partnering with the right people.

Mom Quits Waitressing To Work From Home and make $500 A Day!

Success stories, especially about people working from home, are wonderful to read.

I have come across the story of a struggling single mother who went from waitressing, living paycheck to paycheck to now earning $500+ daily online!

She developed her own system and is now sharing it with only few more people. I have her permission to tell you about it.

You can read the full story here.

After digging deeper into this system and reading about quite a few of the members of her program, people are doing VERY WELL with her course...

By VERY WELL I mean making an additional $150-$250 a day while at work or sitting around the house...

and...

The system is laid out in a 60-Day no-fail action plan that tells you exactly what to do each and every day!

There is no other course out there like it. Usually these programs will give you a boring ebook that only leaves you confused but this course literally holds your hand and forces you to succeed.

Click here right now for more information on this system.
